Sean Robinson Sensei, with his interest in karate peaking in late 2002, sought out a karate school teaching the Shorin Ryu system based on his father’s advice. Prior to his first class at OKCD (January 2003), his exposure to karate consisted primarily of sporadic discussions with his father, a Yondan (4th dan) in Goju Ryu Shoreikan and the direct student of Seikichi Toguchi (himself a direct student of Goju Ryu founder, Chojun Miyagi).

Sean was promoted to the rank of Shodan (1st dan) in January 2008 and currently holds the rank of Yondan (4th dan) in both Shorin Ryu and Shudokan.

Prior to OKCD, Sean’s athletic interests were primarily expressed through two other passions: football (where he was voted to the All-Central Texas 1st Team as a high school senior) and track (having competed in the Texas High School State Track & Field Championships prior to training as a member of the University of Texas Track & Field squad as a freshman).

He considers the overflowing and selfless generosity of OKCD (in and out of the dojo) to be a rare and true treasure.

Sean earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business.
