Master Silvio Azzolini began his studies of Chinese Kung Fu in Brazil, where he trained for many years under the guidance of grand master In Chul Park. He eventually moved to the United States where he continued his training of Kung Fu and also obtained a black belt in traditional Tae Kwon Do. Always questing for more knowledge of Kung Fu and Chinese philosophy, he ventured to China. He was told about Master Chen Shuei Tsai and requested to meet him. As history tends to repeat itself, Master Azzolini spent what seemed an eternity trying to convince Master Chen to be his teacher. Eventually, after assuming the commitment of training 5 hours a day, six days a week, Master Azzolini finally became Master Chen’s disciple. He spent several years training under master Chen Shuei Tsai . He is the only non-Chinese to ever be accepted as a private student by Master Chen and to become captain of the Chinese Kung Fu team in Taiwan.
After returning to the United States, Master Azzolini founded and operated the Chinese Martial Arts Institute in Dallas, Texas. Besides continuing with his training he also passed on his knowledge and techniques to thousands of very fortunate students.
Ilene J. Smoger Sensei met Master Azzolini over 20 years ago. Both were starting to operate traditional martial arts schools in the Dallas area at a time when there were virtually very few traditional martial arts schools in the Metroplex. Master Azzolini eventually traveled to Mexico to pursue his medical career and eventually returned to Dallas to do his medical residency. Master Azzolini and Smoger Sensei met again. The Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas welcomes such a Master of the Martial Arts. We are very fortunate he and his talented and humble students, are willing to share their generous knowledge with the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas. We look forward to years of training together and learning from each other.
