Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas is honored to host one of the highest ranking female martial artists in Jujitsu, Janice Okamoto.  Under the tutelage of Professor Wally Jay, Okamoto Shihan has been awarded the following rankings: Rokudan in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, Yondan in Small Circle Jujitsu, and Nidan in Kodokan Judo.    

In 2003, Okamoto Shihan was awarded her Kaidensho (teaching license) in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.  Okamoto Shihan is the chief instructor at the Alameda Judo/Jujitsu Club located in Alameda, California.  She also serves as the executive director of the Alameda High School Jujitsu Alumni, Inc.  In this capacity, she coordinates planning, funding and execution of several high profile programs including the sponsorship of several dojos, scholarships to national competitions, and the running of Camp Danzan Ryu, which has just hosted their 23rd annual camp this past May.

Forward Rolls & Balance Drills

Forward rolls are the best! Learn to roll and get up quickly to use your Karate. Be prepared to challenge yourself with balance drills that will make you roll, jump, kick and duck your way through an obstacle course.

Rolls, Falls & Throws/ Jujitsu

Basic rolls and falling techniques will be practiced, but the evening emphasis will be on using throws as an offensive/defensive weapon. Learn the three basics of a throw: off balancing, mechanics, and supporting uke.

Control and submission techniques used in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and Small Circle Jujitsu will be demonstrated and practiced. A review of rolls and falls will be covered in the warm-ups.
